Hi all,
I’ve been told to use Johnstones Ecological Acrylic Satin Paint to finish an external door surround off!

Is it just a case of bad work man or is this stuff genuinely a bitch to work with??

It feels as if I’m pushing glue around and it’s always showing brush marks!

I’m now on my 3rd coat and it seemingly getting better.....ish!

Any help or advice would be muchly appreciated!

I have only used their acrylic eggshell (specified by the customer). I hated every minute of using it.

The only way I could get a decent finish was to use quite a lot of Floetrol paint additive and Wooster Ultra Pro brushes.

In part my problem is that I have become too used to being able to move oil paints around and them lay them off to ensure constant tramlines. With the waterbased versions, if you try to do the same thing 1 minute after applying it is like trying to flatten phlegm.

Many of the other respected decorators here are happy using them though.

In all fairness, the temperature definitely isn’t helping! But still it’s a massive pain it the arse!

Saying that, the more coats I throw at it, the better it looks!
