Feeling ripped off

The bad uns will clear a drain with rods then run the pump for a while to run the bill up. The other day I saw a drain clearer - obvious to me they were doing a buchan trap - they were there a while. But what made me LOL was the guy was wearing one of those double filter paint sprayer's masks. I think I'd rather have had a face protector on a hard hat.;) No idea if they were good or bad guys.

Can u get those rods in b and q? Easy to use?

You can get them there or any DIY shed. Easy to use BUT remember to turn them clockwise as you use them to keep them screwed together;)

Second the clockwise bit... Mrs Secure rodded our foul waste drain and didn't do the clockwise bit....the end came off and when UU came they had to jet it into the sewer...

Depending on which bit of your drains is blocked, the water company may have responsibility for it.

We had a recurring problem with ours as the pot was cracked and roots were getting in.

Every NY, it would overflow into the garage (YUK) and even worse next doors gully joins our manhole (Double YUK).

This January, UU came and jetted it, put CCTV down and declared a massive issue with roots. They were back a week later lining the pipe.

Glad we won't have to endure that again. And next door keep putting baby wipes down.. Have told them but it doesn't stop them. Well, it's not their garage getting flooded with sh!t, is it?

And when we've paid for unblocking, they haven't offered any.

Don't get me on to neighbours...

We need a new fence on the other side and it's a party fence. Spoke to the neighbours about it, they said get a quote. Got two companies in to do a quote, put all the paperwork through their door with a note and never heard a dickybird. Now the fence and the supporting brick piers have started to fall down.

What would you do?

:)
Anything I should do from a "legal" POV?
We are both responsible for the fence maintenance/ replacement.

Difficult without going through a Neighbour dispute procedure,
you could say that as you have not heard from them you will pick the estimate of your choice, pay for the work and hope they offer to pay half,

if not then there is Small claims Court procedure as you believe that the fence constitutes a hazard, being a party fence they are reasponsible for half the cost of repairs, dont forget to get photo graphs

UPDATE:

I took the guy to small claims and won the case. However Ive got no chance of getting the money as ill have to pay for bailiffs and judging by my research they have limited powers to retrieve the monies. (good money after bad?!)

I did get £300 from my insurance so I'm happy with that anyway.

On a side note I was contacted by Trading standards as the guy is being investigated over a number of similar things. This will be a criminal prosecution so he will get whats owed.

Is he a limited company or sole trader?

AFAIK refusal to comply with a CCJ can result in a Ltd being forced to cease trading.

Well done for sticking to your guns. On what grounds did the court rule in your favour?

I'm curious as to the basis of the claim, was it a default judgement?
If you are owned more than £600 (with your costs for claim) you can ask the high court to enforce - google N293A

Does a default judgement mean that the guy didn't bother turning up?

As said above, if he's a limited company you can force him into liquidation via a Statutory Demand (costs zero to serve) or a winding up order- you might not see any cash back but can't win them all and you'll definitely cause him pain if he tries to Phoenix the company. If he's a sole trader and happens to own anything (house is a good one) you can get a charge registered against it- cause him all sorts of chaos if he ever wants to sell it. Either way the costs for bailiffs etc go on top of what he owes you (so if he has got any assets you'll get the fees back). Good work causing the chancing toerag some pain :)
