After a long wait we found a good reasonable local trader to replace the rotted roof on our porch. The day it was done was extremely hot and the mixing of the plastic/mastic stuff was inevitably very unpleasant. The fumes came into front and back so we had to shut windows and put fans on. We understood that the smell might endure for some hours until set and we had to live with that but 2 days on the porchway is still rank with the toxic smell. There is no opening window there so I have had the letterbox propped open day and night. We seem to have swapped an organic musty smell for a toxic chemical smell and i am feeling sinussy with it.
I thought i would just ask experts if this is normal or whether the smell should be gone yet? It hasnt got significantly less pungent either? We have paid the trader and he hasnt replied to my question - i am fairly sure it would be only hours not days?
