Engine bay washing

indeed.

... I use a garden hose. Not a high-pressure sprayer which is more likely to get into things. Remember your car is built to withstand you driving up a motorway in a thunderstorm in traffic spray....

pressure also washes grease off motorcycle chains and sometimes even wheel bearings.

Good luck. As I said leave it well alone or get a valeter to do it then it's his responsibilty when the ECU goes tits up. Perhaps the clever people on here who say they have been doing it since prehistory would like take the responsibilty.

If the damage isn't immediately evident, I wouldn't want to be the person chasing the valeter trying to prove the damage and get recompense.

I've never needed to chase myself as there has been no damage and no need for recompense.

Have you got a car that can't go out in the rain?

I jet wash my engine all the time, just be sensible put plastic bag over alternator and exposed electrical connections. I keep engine running while washing it, dries quicker.
