hi I’ve been offered full time position doing maintenance on new builds, after years of self employment my head is turning to serious thinking about this job.
Been offered what I would say is a fair wage, I would imagine it be changing taps/servicing boilers/changing pumps or zone valves/re silicone shower enclosures etc just wondered what other engineers would do, or if you know anyone that does maintenance on new builds.
Any help would be great

New builds shouldn't need maintenance should they? Is this actually a job snagging other trades' cockups? Why are you imagining what the job is, is there no job description?

No idea mate.
I would imagine that, like most on the books jobs, you will be made to do every minute you're paid for and won't be paid for when there's nothing for you... Check the terms on that.
Why not trial it for a month or two whilst still doing your s/e stuff... probably the only way you'll really get to find out!

I have a new house and any maintenance on plumbing and heating isn’t straight forward as they have a tendency to hide pipework in walls and use bathroom furniture that’s needs to be removed to change any parts etc. Never fun trying to get sheets of MDF board up to get to pipes either.

Houses...
They don't make 'em like they used to ;)

I cant help thinking 'maintenance' might be a misleading term.

Normal maintenance would be the responsibility of the homeowner, I wouldve thought.

So I would imagine maintenance actually means dealing with after sales service - IE customers with a snagging list - caused by, I am assuming that would construction faults.

Hiya thanks for all feedback I spoke to the company and they said it be boiler servicing/rad changes/toilet changes/taps/re sealing show enclosures/ service unvented cylinders/change pumps/zone valves basically any maintenance on new builds for plumbing and heating, as they have to offer a year contract on installation. Seems quite a good number. Just wondering if any other lads on here have done this sort of work or know someone’s that has? Thanks sgain
