Bit of a specific problem here, so any help appreciated.

I have a waste disposal unit plumbed in under the sink. A quooker outlet pipe (marked C in the diagram) connects to the waste pipe (above the u-bend), which is also fed into by the waste disposal unit.

The problem I keep having is that mulched up food waste is spraying out of the quooker outlet pipe.

It's not happening every time I use it. But every so often, whenever I look under the sink, i'll see food waste has sprayed everywhere.

I'm assured it's been fitted correctly.

any ideas?

A photo of the actual installation would be useful.

If food waste is leaking from the pipework then something is wrong with the installation.

Time to get the installer back or call in the boil tap technician to work out the next step forward, seen a few feck:censored: boil tap mare installations.

Well, unless the specification calls for food waste to be sprayed around the kitchen cabinet, that seems unlikely!

thanks for making me laugh! yes, it wouldn't be a great selling point. ok, I'm on it.

Not really sure but from what I can come up with is maybe they have ran the pressure relief into the sink waste. Maybe there is tundish on the PRV and the food waste is coming out of that.
Just a theory. Unsure until I could see the installation.

Hi, I have exactly the same problem and this is exactly what is happening, do you know how this can be averted, the food waste and water comes up through the tun dish when the water is half filling the insinkerator prior to turning on, it basically operates like a cyclone spewing everything out through the tun dish once its on, help on this would be appreciated as I'm in the same spot as tom 1975

Installation photos needed. On both counts.
Thanks for your response, originally I had expansion pipe in the horizontal waste pipe as per quookers instructions, but had problems, then moved to where gaffer tape is and it still did it, spewing out through tun dish

I’ve been waiting to reply to this - I recently had the whole set up taken apart. It may not be the same problem as yours.

6 years worth of accumulated food watse had blocked the waste pipe so any new waste was being forced back up the
nearest outlet (in this case the quooker).

Now it’s been cleared the problem is sorted.

The question i still haven’t answered is whether it’s ok to pour drank unblocker down the waste disposal every 6 months to prevent it in futures.

DO NOT USE ANY DRAIN UNBLOCKER ON A WASTE DISPOSAL.

Egg shells and lemons are good for a waste disposal. Also plenty on water on every use.

The manual I'm looking at doesn't show discharge connection to horizontal pipe, only to vertical and the height distance between tundish and waste connection should be as large as possible and after the sink trap. There should also be a definite trap created in the discharge hose, near to the waste connection, using cable ties - this is also shown in the manual.
I notice from your photo that you have an another appliance hose connected to the insinkerator, be it dishwasher or washing machine, it should rise up to above flood level of the sink, before dropping down to connect with the insinkerator - the pump on this appliance may be forcing water up and out of the tundish. Does your sink not have an overflow? I see no connection to the waste tailpipe on the insinkerator.
As per above reply, I would check for blockages in the waste pipework and mechanically clear it (don't use chemicals) and then sort out the pipework as my points above. And check what you are putting down the disposal unit... Coffee grounds are a no, no!

Looking @ the quooker diagrams - The waste disposal should have it's own separate waste pipe ( or the quooker should have it's own trapped waste pipe.) Simples, really. Muck and a tundish don't seem compatible.;)

Been to a job today and, whilst there, was asked to look at this exact problem... On 3 sinks in the same kitchen... Jewish kitchen, so meat sink, veg sink and utility sink... All 3 incorrectly installed... ribbed hose from boil tap tundishes have the formed trap (by looping it on itself) but is then connected to the horizontal waste (downstream of the insinkerator trap) via a drill hole straight into the waste pipe and sealed with mastic

Separate traps would be required but there's f€¢k all room in any of the units

Might look at a hepvo if manufacturers approve?
