Google is proving frustrating in my search for this item. My terminology might not be optimised.

I'm after a power switch on the end of a lead. The lead would plug into a socket, something else plugs into that. The switch acts as a stop/start for the plugged in thing, which is left permanently on.
The switch should be large and preferably stop and start on the one switch, as opposed to being two separate on/off switches.

Does such a thing exist?

I have considered an exterior big button light switch wired between a plug and a socket, but wondered if any off the shelf option was available.

Neither look suitable for use outdoors.

Where does the OP say anything about wanting to use it outdoors? He says
"I have considered an exterior big button light switch" but nothing about actually wanting to use it outdoors.

It's for a suction machine (like what you get at the dentist), for a bedbound person with limited mobility to be able to switch it on and off with ease. The existing switch is too small and hard to reach.

NVR is no good as they would be a bit fiddly to operate and turn on.
I suggested outdoor switch for the size and extra IP protection.

Thanks for the suggestions, keep them coming.

Ok I just found this, which is exactly what I meant.

I've used these type of switch before and didn't find them very positive, so might take a punt on this and replace the switch part if necessary.

Can anyone suggest something better than a big light switch?

I was thinking an emergency stop button type switch, which could be mounted into a pattress or accessory box. But it needs to do on and off.

Which I took to mean the application was exterior use. Seems perfectly reasonable to me.
