I have a hardwood worktop that has been oiled. The property is going to be let and I would like to protect it from water and rough treatment.

Is there a matt or low silk lacquer I can use on this?

in general it needs to be oiled once a day for a week
once a week for a month once a month for a year then twice a year after that

Thanks,

It has been oiled 6 times over the past 2 weeks but I won't be able to ensure a tenant cars for it properly. It is just a small section that I fitted to cover where there was a gap.

It has hot rods on it to prevent burns and we want to discourage it being used as a chopping board.

It's just that despite the oil I know it won't stand up well to lack of care. So if I was staying there it would be wiped after use and oiled as needed but if I can provide a more durable seal I will do that rather than have it damaged.

I have read about lacquer being used/or some type of non gloss varnish but I don't know which type or if it can be used over oil.

as far as i know once its well oiled thats it only oil will work
have you thought about supplying say three chopping boards ??

Yes, will do that and put in lease/possible a sign saying

This is not a chopping board.

Concern is more liquid based.

an oiled hardwood worktop is ideal for use in a showroom.

But not suitable for a room that contains water, hot pans, and sharp knives.

Used osmo top oil on my oak , tenants in there for three years still as good as when I installed.
