Installing stairs - plasterboard before or after?

Hi.

I have built a new stairwell which is block on one side on the first riser and timber stud on the remaining two sides if you imagine you have 2 left turns to go through 180 degrees.

Looking for advice as to should I plasterboard all the stairwell stud before or after I fit the stairs? Personally I think after but wanted to check. ..

I did mine after but it does take a bit of thickness out of the side bit (string/stringer?)
 
Did mine after. Had to get the multitool out and hack a few bits of plasterboard out where the wall was bent otherwise the gap down most of the stringer would have been horrendous

Also, by the time I fitted stairs I'd forgotten where the studs were for fixing the stringers to

Would still do it that way again though
