Safe to rotavate and turf cut around trees?

Hi folks,

I've got a large lawn (approx 300 square meters) which need to be replaced.

I was hoping to use a turf cutter to remove the existing turf, then rotavate the soil prior to laying new turf.

My concern is that there are two large trees in the centre of the lawn - a blue cedar and a willow - and it would be a disaster if they were harmed.

Is it safe to rotavate all around them? Or would this upset too many of their small surface type roots? I'm concerned they may start dying back.

Appreciate any advice.

Possibly not. Proceed with caution.

Maybe dig some holes and see what you find at what depth.

I think big roots would be more likely there and damage the tines on the rotavator. Go with endecotp.
