Is it possible to just change the washer on the flexi fitting as shown in the picture or do I have to get a complete new fitting?

You can change the washer. It may just be a trick of the light , but your pic looks like the flexi is cross threaded . looks like the nut is a funny angle ??

Not certain the nut is square on the thread tbh, has it recently been removed?

Edit; post above wasn`t there earlier! :(

If that plastic valve tail has been cross threaded then a new valve is on the cards.

Thanks for the replies. I take it that the washer is a standard 1/2 inch. I must admit the nut does look at a weird angle. Will have to check that out.

Really! I can think of 2 ways of securing the flexi without replacing the whole valve.
JP , if you think our friend grandadt has a better chance of working with what he has then give him your suggestions ,bear in mind he is working in a limited space on a concealed cistern . I think he would find it easier to fit a new valve. Regards terry.

grandadt, start by removing the nut and the PTFE tape and make sure there is no debris on the rubber washer, then offer up the nut to the thread with no PTFE tape (A little tip when aligning any nut to a thread is to offer it up and turn the nut anti-clockwise until you hear/feel a click then tighten the nut by hand onto the thread, try it on a bottle & cap first to see what I`m saying). With the nut hand tight the crimped section on the flexi shouldn`t feel overly loose, if it is then most likely the nut is cross threaded so remove and start again.

If it still leaks then you need the following from our host item 78641 ptfe tape, 23614 LSX and a 93992 female coupler.
Wrap the ptfe tape around the valve stem say 8 times in a clockwise rotation, smear the LSX around the tape but don`t get any inside the stem where the water goes, screw on the coupler and tighten and finally fit the flexi pipe to the now Brass shanked fill valve. Do not over tighten the nut as it is a rubber washer seal.
