I live in a mid terraced house with a single story kitchen extension out the back already built when we moved into the house 18 years ago. The toilet in the house is downstairs and I was looking into extending over the kitchen extension to add a small bathroom upstairs to save tramping downstairs in the night to go to the bathroom.
Taking advice from a local architect I was told that my plans would not work as they would end up blocking the light to the neighbours upstairs bedrooms due to the 60 degree rule.
So now my plan is to build an outside loo in the garden as the extra toilet and wash hand basin will come in handy when the main bathroom is occupied.
After some looking about my idea is to construct a block built structure tying the front and back wall of the toilet into an existing block built shed to save on building.
Has anyone ever done something like this before and what pitfalls or things cropped up?
