Hello all,

Bought a freestanding bath with an exposed chrome waste. From the manufacturers website (Burlington) it looked like the P trap would be able to be aligned directly towards the taps and then into the wall where it could connect to a waste.

However, what the instructions really meant is that it can be directed out at an angle, except right between the taps as the overflow connects to the drain at this point and creates a conflict:

Does anyone have a suggestion on a way to resolve this? I'm thinking that an extention of some sort between the drain and the p-trap. McAlpin do one in plastic, but that could possibly look naff. Any other suggestions on a chrome alternative to get the waste out the wall?
I have access to the void space so could potentially have a trap of some sort in there.

That trap looks like an ultra finishing product, they come in kit form and are designed to be piped under the bath with the supplied length of mirror finish chrome pipe with formed bend poking below floor level. Then continued in plastic under the floor to a suitable drain.

There is not many chromed waste fittings with suitable threads around, others may have more info thou

Had a look into it. You are right there aren't a wide range of Chrome fittings available. I can't see a way of hooking it up without making it look odd, with the waste coming out at a weird angle, or the same with the overflow.

However, the drain itself has a 1-1/2" BSP thread, which is groovy. I've ordered a 316 stainless half socket, and running nipple. I'll use it to extend the thread from the drain down by another inch.

I've got a good selection of polishing stuff I use for sharpening chisels and can get a mirror finish on them, so illI polish up the socket and see how it goes. I'll keep you all posted once the bits get here.

Well, it certainly fits.

I might give polishing the socket a try, but it doesn't look half bad. Probably about £10 in psrts.

For those who are interested, here's what it looks like in situ. Sorry for poor quality, but the lense o my camera got cracked and is now full of grout and dust!
