Getting a heavy bath upstairs

Need to get a 160 kg stone resin bath (1580x585x680) up some stairs, round a few corners and into a bathroom. Have a plumber in doing the bathroom, but he's not making confident noises about how we do it......

Just four guys, two at top, two at bottom?? :S

Before you get it up there, make sure the floor its sitting on will take the weight.Your looking at 20 stone plus water plus human beings specially if they are obese

Put people you do not like at the bottom. Could make quite an impression on them.

But seriously

Have a safety rope kept taut to prevent the bath falling down the stairs if one of the people slips or stumbles.

And as mentioned before you start ensure the floor in the bath room can take the weight and ensure that the stairs can take the weight.

The loading on the stairs will be more than the dead weight if it bounces at all.

Yeah, I'm slightly concerned about the stairs. If the weight of the bath is basically two normal men, so that's effectively 6 men standing on the stairs at one time. Was thinking to slide it up some runners, using a winch at the top - means no bouncing, and only two men plus bath are on the stairs.

Floor in bathroom should be fine I think, it's original 7 inch joists, mixture of 2 and 3 inches thick. Span of joints from brick party wall to RSJ is 1.8m, and the bath is sitting on the side of the room against the party wall. New bath is basically one fat man heavier than the old steel bath..... and I took plenty of candlelit baths with obese men without problems....

the fat person you share with will displace an equivalent weight of water down the overflow.

but the extra weight of the new bath will still be extra weight.

Most of the time the obese man would stand to the side of the bath, just watching me bathe. In this cases, he didn't displace any water. Floor was ok!

Was also thinking of winching from the top. Then the only loading on the stairs would be my bath aka the fat guy!
 
5 guys - one in the upturned bath like a tortoise - Done that when an apprentice;) I wasn't fat then but am now
