Hi All,

My washing machine door is not opening. It’s been off for a few days. I have tried spinning cleaning the filter draining etc to no luck. The door light just stays on?

I have tried banging to shock it into opening but also no luck. Anyone please point me in a a direction to open the door?

I have no clothes in the machine it’s empty.

Thank you all

Have you tried just putting it through a wash cycle? Should release door at end, otherwise it looks like solenoid on door lock is faulty.

Door locks use a heated wire, which when hot pulls the lock closed and when cool releases the lock, hence the delay between switching off and being able to open the door. The delay is the wire cooling and returning to it's original shape.
If it's still locked with the power removed for days, then the lock is broken.

Anyone please point me in a a direction to open the door?
Some machines have a pull cord to manually open the door, usually located behind the drain filter door on the bottom front of the machine.
Or tilt it backwards and look up underneath the machine for any kind of cord going towards the lock.

If not, then it will involve some breakage and destruction, as the screws which hold the lock in are accessible from the front with the door open.
Remove the top of the machine (usually just 2 or 3 screws along the back edge), you should be able to see the back of the lock and break it off with a suitable tool.
