Hi,
The grill element on my oven has dropped down on one side because a couple of the small clips that held it in place have failed.
Is there anything I can do?
Thank you.

looking at this picture, i assume its the correct part for your oven or at least looks the same, you are referring to the support bar clips. the support bar screws to the oven housing and the element is clipped onto the support bar.

Yes, that's it. The element is ok except that the clip to the support bar has come off. Can I just replace the clip?

no reason why you couldnt just use some galvanised garden wire or similar as its only to retain it in place.
but really, i suppose, need something that will have little contact with the element otherwise the heat transfer will be affected, if yoy see what I am getting at.

of course do it with the oven unplugged and ensure it is sufficiently cooled down if recently been on but the heating element that conducts the electric is inside the element housing so providing the heating element is in good condition there is no risk of electricution.

if the element had shorted out to the outer casing or the oven housing the electrics would trip a fuse.

the only thing with wire retaining the element is possibly some rattling where the element isn't held tight enough, you'll know what i mean if you get that issue.

can you not 'pinch' the clip so the gap is smaller so the element will clip back into place? just a thought

Thanks all.
The wife's dad, who was an engineer, came round and bound it up with thick copper wire. Perfect!
