just bought a cheap kicker to do some carpetting but out of the box it seems a little odd (well chinese actually) - the middle two columns of tines are longer than the others on each side. Have a look at the attached photo. Can anyone who's used one of these comment - will it work properly or should I just send it back? I'm thinking that if the central tines are adjusted to the correct length, then the others will be too short to grip properly, and all the grip on the carpet will be in a small area, increasing risk of tearing the carpet. Tell me what you think please. Ta

i dont now much about carpet but, for a bit of carpeting, you can knock up a kicker with a length of wood and some nails or hire one for getting a good stretch if thats the idea.

Will be fine if you adjust the spikes so they don’t go through the backing of the carpet

I've got a cheap e-bay job and it looks like the screwfix one. Does yours have a dial on it to adjust the tines?!
