Doorframe Gap

Our carpenter put a doorframe in an existing aperture, but only the same width as the single skin brickwork. The walls were then subsequently dot-n-dab'd by a plasterer, and skimmed.

The plasterer said that the doorframe needs to be replaced with the correct width timber? Is he correct?

I don't know what should be the correct solution for this job, but it's looking like a pig's ear at the moment. Appreciate any advice.

The door casing needs to be replaced with the correct width timber. Otherwise how are you going to fit the architrave?

What wall make up would a 115mm lining suit? 89mm cls plus 9mm plasterboard?

115mm lining would be no good for 100mm blockwork anyway.

Did the chippie know the walls were going to be dot n dab?

Solution: give the chippie a good slap

I think you should ask him 'when can you come round to fit the architrave'.

Or you could say 'do you think my decorator can fill the gap with caulk'

One the one side, the plasterer has boarded and skimmed right up to the woodwork, so that's going to be a PITA to remove without causing a right mess.
