Hello all,

Looking to install at least 3 windows as as part of a big refurb in a ground floor 3m x 8m room, with lean-to pitched roof. windows will be approx 3m high at the pull bar.

Considering making one or two of the windows electrically operated because the missus has a developing medical condition that could make opening them difficult, but they're expensive!

Questions...

Are Keylite as good as Velux?
Do you reckon having just one window out of 3 which is electrically operated would work to remove heat ...but just slower than two?
Is it better to have 3 larger windows or 4 smaller ones in a room 8m long

Can’t comment on jeylite /velux opinion as haven’t fitted keylite before.

Removing heat - can’t honestly say. But the bigger the window in that department he better. Also give thought to other factors - whichever is electrically operated would be best located in an exposed position such that it gets good airflow to draw out heat. Also, it’d be ideal to have two to work in tandem of drawing cool air in and hot air out - consider locations of extractors to aid this air flow movement.

RE 3 large or 4 small - larger windows every time. Consider areas of the room you won’t mind are dark (fitted furniture?) and locate windows accordingly.

Good luck.

We have keylite manual windows and they are fine. We wanted electrical but the extra cost for 4 of them was a fortune and better spent elsewhere for us. The rain noise on them can get annoying when trying to sleep but the extra light and ventilation is worth it.

I have 2 of the largest electric Velux's, we use them everyday. They are brill at removing the heat, you will need blinds if you have a South facing garden as the Sun is spiteful.
