Hi

I'm having a log cabin put up its from Dunster House

https://dunsterhouse.co.uk/log-cabi...nster house&utm_content=Dunster House General

I want to paint it - ideally to weather protect it but to make it look pretty. What sort of paint do I use? It says it is 'spruce' not cheap pine. I have no idea what that means. I did notice a fair few knots in the 'spruce wood'. Do I need to use 'knotting' before painting?

Also, do I need to use an undercoat/primer, like when you do skirting boards?

Many thanks
