Damp patches in wood after dipping?

Hey all, wondering if anyone can solve this mystery? Whenever I have wood dipped (paint stripped) I always find there are damp patches or whole areas that never quite dry and keep feeling damp. The areas can range from very small to whole sections and are darker than the rest of the wood, almost looks like wood rot. There are no knots in these areas so wondering if anyone knows why this is?

It may be from the wood absorbing the wood stripping chemicals.

Yeah true, could be a reaction to sensative areas of the wood. When it does seem to dry it feels a bit tacky and paint doesn't seem to stick well

Caustic stripping of hardwoods can open the grain, the wood can get damp and become prone to warping. Bear in mind the wood is pressure washed after being dipped.

Not so much a problem with pine.

Paint not adhering indicates incomplete removal of dipping agent, i.e a shoddy job.

Yeah I noticed these areas still have fine tablesalt like substence on them. Does this mean the chemical hasn't been flushed out properly?
