Supporting Wall Removal / RSJ and Electrical Cables

Maybe I'm misunderstanding, since I'm confused by that arithmetic - 179-178 = 1, not 10, and nor would your figures make any sense as centimetres.

Kind Regards, John

Sorry, looks like I had a right blonde moment there.

178x102x19 UB S355 is listed in the Structural report for the beam (I'm assuming the 178 is the depth?)

Actual depth of the joist is 195mm

Also just noticed this sticky stuff on one of the cables, should I be concerned?

Cheers

Are those white particles polystyrene, has there been some sort of insulation in the void, anyway it looks like the outer sheath has been affected by polystyrene contact, not to too badly by the looks

Just checked. Its bits of plaster from the plaster from the plaster board that was multi tooled to make the opening. Looks white because of the flash.

That sticky stuff could be varnish that has leaked through from the wood floor treatment, or some oither spray. Maybe there was woodworm treatment or similar at some time. Nothing to worry about though IMO.
