hi guys,
Bought a quickwire switch and load block to change a rose for a modern set up in a bedroom but upon checking the rose has actually 4 2.5 cables into it making it a possible second light on the switch although theres only one light in the room .
I had a loft conversion a good few years ago so its possible they linked the loft lights from this rose, but as quickwire has 4 sets for connections : switch n load ,power 2, switch 1 and 1 load theres no room for the extra set of wires.
Any ideas do i just leave the quickwire and use connector blocks instead ( ideally as quickwire are MF I wanted to pop it in the plasterhole out of the way but am aware anything with screws etc shouldnt be hidden from access.
hope its clear to you as its not so to me!!
cheers guys for any thoughts

I have an electrician coming sunday to fit some sockets will see what he thinks as well, shame wanted to do it myself as well!

If the extra wire is a second loop out then just use a Quickwire Splitter fed from the loop output of the Switch & Load.

Thanks guys, I guess flameport and sfk are the better options James but ta for the idea
I wonder does the hagar junction box have enough connection space for the 4 ***(edited!)cables frn the rose and one new light cable ( 15 wires seems a squeeze?) ) ta again!

Have I misunderstood?

I thought it was lighting which won't be 2.5mm². The Hager J501 boxes are for lighting.

You can get J803 for socket circuits.

No it is the lighting circuit, ignore any mention of 2.5 that was me just being random, tired last night!

Mike,
In response to your question, "I wonder does the J501 hagar junction box have enough connection space for 5 [lighting rated] cables"

I see the wiring of a J501 hagar having the same connections as a Ceiling Rose, but having a lot more space.
I normally use the J501 hagar with 4 cables, (line in, line out, lamp, Switch), but there is space for 5 cables, but is a bit more fiddly as you have to start putting two wires into a single junction.

Video and image here showing it in use with 4 cables:

Thanks again, just watched it, going to watch his wago one as well but might as well see what the spark says on Sunday, if he doesn't charge me loads he can do it!
Thanks again for all the choices lads much appreciated

anyway.....Ended up using the quickwire on a light it was possible to use on , 3in one out.
As for the original light spark said best just to junction the rose wires in blocks and pop up in recess. I got a Hager box but way too small and tight for all those wires
