How to block chimney flue

I am taking out my gas fire and fitting an inset electric fire in a fire surround, i have heard i can use an inflatable balloon to block chimney so if i want to fit a gas fire again it is easily removed. i would appreciate any advice on this thanks

Is there a gas terminal fitted at the chimney head?
