Hello
It may sound stupid but I'll ask:
What is the resolution of a camera in live view mode? Is the mainstream resolution?
Or the mainstream resolution settings are only for recording, and the live view resolution is the maximum native resolution of the camera and cannot be changed.
I allready installed cameras like hikvision, dahua, truvision, samsung...for none of these cameras live view resolution settings waren't available, only mainstream and substream resolutions.

Mainstream is high resolution but can usially be set to a wide range of values.

There may be other streams as well as a sub stream for mobiles.

You can often select which stream is for live viewing.

Hello
Thank you for your answer
I am working with hikvision ip cameras for the moment and I can confirm that there is no settings for live view, only mainstream and sub-stream.
My guess is that the mainstream settings are for both live view and recorded.
But...is only a guess, I have to be sure. When I calculate the bandwidith occupied in live view I don't whant to have surprises.

Using iVMS4200 you can set the main (recorded) stream and the sub stream separately for each individual camera.

Use the main stream settings in total to calculate the disk storage you need. To a large extent of course that will be affected by whether you are recording continuously or only on movement.

In live view you will normally only be watching one camera at a time, so its settings will determine the bandwidth.

Yes, I know all that with ivms 4200
My question is what is the live view resolution? Is the mainstream resolution and in this case you can change it, or is the max resolution of the camera and you cannot change it. For example, with an ip hikvision camera, managed from the browser, no nvr, how can I set or know the live view resolution? Only changes can be done to main and sub streams.

There is no "live stream" on Hikvision cameras as such. You have the main stream which is what the camera is recording at and the substream which is generally only used for viewing at a lower quality/bandwidth. In the ivms 4500 app, the ivms 4200 software and web browser, you have the option to select either main stream or substream for the live view.

Ok.
Thanks a lot.
By the way, other cameras have the live stream?
Thanks again.

On HIK, how many streams you have depends on the actual camera.

under configuration you can select which stream is used for the live view, ie main or sub stream.
The cameras can have serval options for main stream and sub stream, but cant change the third stream which is used for the basic analytics available on some cameras.
