"Philip Hammond, UK chancellor, put a brave face on the figures on Wednesday, but he accepted that the results suggested Brexit would make people poorer.

“If you look at this purely from the economic point of view, there will be a cost to leaving the EU because there will be impediments to trade,” Mr Hammond told the BBC’s Today programme."

But we all knew there would be economic damage to the country from resigning our EU membership. Even the Quitters knew, and that's what they voted for.

A few pretended to think that the EU would offer a better deal to a non-member than it does to its own members, but that was never serious.

Some daft plumber was saying today that he didn't mind being poorer. He's pushing for the worst possible option.

Non members have a better deal with the EU than the EU's own members do, Canada and other non members have free trade with the EU without having to accept Freedom of movement, jurisdiction of the ECJ ,non do they have to stump up billions to subsidize other parts of Europe.
It is good to see that the EU is starting to realise the benefits of free trade with the rest of the world,.

Did you know the EU put high tariffs on roasted coffee beans, preventing Africa from adding value to its produce.

The EU has also been guilty of interferring in the internal affairs of African countries who want to trade with the EU.
One country in N.Africa which wants to export dates and bananas to the EU has been told it must change its laws to be compatible with EU human rights laws if it wants to export into the EU.
The EU attitude to 3rd world countries is a modern form of imperialism.

CETA has many exceptions and doesn't cover financial passporting areas in which we dominate. Its more a FTA about goods and tariffs and mentions little about regulation other than you have to meet EU standards, there is no standards harmonisation and it's taken 7 years to agree.

Selling it as some great route for the UK to take it isn't.

How many of the inhabitants of these countries have been murdrered by EU states over the years.
Typical imperalist mindset, it is ok for us but not for them.
Western backed states blow bus loads of woman and kids and the BBC calls it a tragedy the opposition does it and the BBC calls it an atrocity.
