Hello. First of all sorry if this question has been asked before , I looked and couldn’t see the exact wiring problem I have mention elsewhere.
I am changing the double light switch in my kitchen (plastic on old switch cracked) the wires on the exting switch is all brown cable. One cable to common (1) and one to 2 on the left switch and one cable to common (1) and one to 2 on the right (upside down?) switch. With a short connecting loop of wire between the common (1) of the right switch and 2 on the left switch.with the (3) connector not used Picture attached.
The new switch has a different layout (picture attached). Do I just carry the cabling layout over to the new switch (with the linking cable going from Lcom at the top of the right switch to the L2 at the bottom of the left switch and leaving all the L1 terminals unconnected)or is there more to the differences between these two units.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

You must replicate the wiring allowing for the fact that your new switch does not have one upside down.

1 = loom
2 = L1

I have never seen a switch marked "loom". It does not seem relevant.

Thank you for you help.
So The short linking cable would go between Lcom on the top of the right switch to L1 at the bottom of the left switch leaving all the L2 unconnected?

When I first took the switch out of the package I thought it said Loom as well, so I’ll see you at the specsavers.

Yes, as that is how it is wired and presumably the lights work as they should.

(Although as the switches are only being used as one-way it doesn't really matter. but for more complicated wiring for two-way it is important to replicate the wiring exactly unless you can work out what's what.)

Just like to say thank you again EFLImpudance, new stitch fitted and all lights working.
