Hikvision security flaws

PTZ is only useful for monitored cctv where it is required to move around a scene or follow a target around. For domestic applications, chose the correct cameras to cover the required scene and leave them to run.

Returning to the security question, I used Wireshark to monitor the sites that a cheap eBay camera was linking to, and was appalled at what was going on. The Hikvision cameras are relatively safe. I stress relatively, since nothing connected to the Internet is ever perfectly protected.

Are you able to elaborate on what you saw going on via Wireshark ?

There were a number of connections to Chinese IP addresses. What they were for is anyone's guess but they certainly weren't needed for operation of the camera.
