How to do the coving ends

Any idea how i go about making a stop end for this type of coving sold by tool station ?

I have a window in my kitchen and the coving stops where the window is, so there is no mitred corner at this point. Basic plaster coving can be finished with a self made infill stop end i think, but i am not sure how to finish off these moulded covings ?

you do a external corner cut as if you are going into the wall if that makes sense

Personally I have only used plaster coving, i tried the foam coving (not sure if this is the same stuff) and didn't like it

Google return mitre, plenty of vids and descriptions on the net, and indeed some on here.

Turn it upside down (at the correct angle) and cut it in a mitre box or with a manual mitre saw. Just remember that the cut on the bottom edge (which is now at the top should have a 45 degree cut, the other edge should be a straight cut.

I use my Nobex Champion with the bi-metal blade when cutting plaster coving.

I have used a better quality foam coving once. I liked the fact that it was so light. The only real downside was that you have to be very careful when sanding joints, I finished any joins with Red devil OneTime filler.

coving is available in all kinds of materials. british gypsum stuff is typicl.
but using any type or size of common coving all you have to do is mitre cut the end - typicly 45* - an use the off-cut as a return mitre/stop end.

The paving setts ?

I haven't bought them yet, but i know where i want to get them from. Still doing the extension internals now. Once the inside is done i will be on with the paving round the back and the new drive. Just got a type 1 drive at the moment.

I remember you posting about the place in Bingley (I think) and you said he does them cheaper when you call in. I haven’t done mine yet either so thought about ordering them at the same time if the price is right.

There’s a place on e-bay doing them in 2 thickness’s and I like the look of them

I think i have seen that drive on a landscapers website. They are based in Liverpool.

I have just checked eBay for these setts and a place in bradford is coming up at £30sqm. They are next door to Bingley stone approx by about 2 miles. Not been to their yard but could be worth a look to check what the stone looks like in the hand.

The prices for the setts in Bingley were in Spring of this year:

150mm x 100 - 300mm (random sizes) 50mm thick £35sqm and 38mm £25 sqm

200 x 100 x 50mm £45 sqm and 38mm £35 sqm

I am looking at maybe using these setts from India from this supplier in North Yorkshire:

The setts are 50mm thick and 160 x 120/160/240 in size. £35 sqm

Will be Feb/March when i come to do the drive.

I have found the photo and ad on eBay for these setts. They look pretty much the same as those on Bingley stone.

I am pretty sure you could speak to both yards and work out a good price. I think he said to me delivery would be free as well. I am 40 miles away from his yard but i am always over that way as used to live around that area.
