first time ever my zanussi washing machine drum bearings have failed after only 4 years and very light use. just two people using it. my last machines lasted over ten years with just the pump needing changes now and again. i have read that the main brands have made it financially not viable to repair by putting the bearings in a sealed drum. thanks. does anyone know of a brand that hasnt done this as i wont be buying a zanussi again. ive heard that one company owns about 20 brands so gonna be a hard search i guess.

Unless you want to pay piles of money, none of them.

There are really only two choices with washing machines -
buy the cheap ones for about £200 and expect to replace it every 4 or 5 years
or buy a Miele or some other overpriced brand and it should last 15-20 years with some repairs, but will also cost 5x more than the cheap one with repairs on top of that.

Mid priced machines are generally the cheap ones dressed up with extra programmes and features no one needs or uses.

Washing machines have had the spin speed increased over the years but no upgrade in the bearings which results in early failure for some.

this throw away policy cant be good for the environment. must be time for a new player in this business. i guess a slower spin speed may help. also maybe a smaller drum which will carry less weight may help. oh well cheers.

Japan is terrible for chucking stuff away , average only 6months for electricals because they must have the latest gismo.
