Heatline boiler warning

What else could he do as we were freezing without hot water and heating ? He wanted to get it up and running. I don't want to get him in trouble but will order the part poff Ebay and get it installed. The only thing is that the part on Ebay has 2 pipes, when in fact mine has one.
no they all have 2 pipes and one hose outlet, you have to have a flow and a return they wouldnt work with one pipe, it is the condensate hose outlet on yours that has sheared

O course he is. He services the boiler every year with a Corgi certificate. It's just a bit of metal.
Corgi haven't been the authorised registration body for gas installers for almost 10 years - it's Gas Safe now. If he's issuing Corgi certificates he may well be dodgy.

One person's "Just a bit of metal" is another person's "safety-critical component".

I used a window fitter off Rated People last year. He took a £1700 deposit and I never saw him again. Had good reviews, but presumably they were left by his family/mates etc. He dissolved his limited company so I couldn't get my money back. It's not a great place to find people I'm afraid - anyone can sign up with almost no vetting

What
The plumber is a joke...stuff the customer, you do what's right and proper.

I meant Gas safe, not Corgi. As for the copper pipe rotting, the outside copper pipe installed with the boiler for the condensed water hasn't rotted so why should this new piece ?

Never ever ever ever pay anyone for a job upfront. Alarm bells should surely have rang if you were asked for that much.

The "active" ingredients ( carbonic acid, percarbonic acid and sulphurous acid ) in the condensate fluid were consumed in corroding away the warm copper tube close to the boiler, hence there was little if any active ingredient left in the condensate fluid to corrode the outside copper pipe.

Fair enough but to be fair the plumber did state it is only short term until a new part/boiler is fitted.

The question is, will the new part from Ebay be guaranteed safe ? The metal in that could be inferior to the one made by Heatline. Nothing is certain these days.

The outside condensate pipe should be plastic...as I said Heatlines are nearly always illegal installs.
No matter how temporary the repair its not compliant with gas regs.
No ones going to bother faking a recuperator made by a Turkish company for Heatline and a few other boiler manufacturers.
Despite what the boiler manufacturers might say counterfeit boiler parts are not common.

.

Sorry but how can you say that ? The builders merchant that sold it was Buildbase. The boiler was fitted by a Gas safe engineer and a plumber. The engineer gave me a signed certificate after installation. I understand why you think it would be illegal. I could say all Baxi insulations are illegal because I don't like Baxi. Boilers are fitted pretty much the same way.

You seem to have a major denial issue.
I work in the gas trade...I see thousands of boilers.
I talk from experience...the same as other pros on here but you seem to think I just make stuff up.
Heatline along with several other cheaper brands sell their boilers through unconventional channels ie. builders merchants etc. This often results in an illegal installation...fact.
Most boiler manufacturers sell their boilers through traditional plumbing and heating merchants, although some manufacturers go to the effort of rebranding their boiler models, reducing the specification and warranty just in order to sell to builders merchants and pick up a dubious install market.

Have you got the building control notice of installation?
Have you got a fully filled out benchmark logbook?
Have you actually checked the installer on the gas safe website and does his face agree?

Condensate pipes should always be run in plastic. Copper is not considered to be a suitable material, never has been...

It was a 50% deposit, which isn't unusual in any trade. You're missing my point though, which is that traders appearing on that site are not vetted and it gives no guarantee of working standards, as you are now finding (whether you want to accept it or not).

NO, too many things sold via Ebay are counterfeit so without knowing for sure where the item was manufactured it is impossible to guarantee the quality of the item.
The boiler parts aren't counterfeit, usually stolen but very rarely fake.
