I fully agree with you re: wiring centre If I knew what I was doing with a multi meter I’d have a prod around myself.
To be fair. Every now and then along comes a problem that stymies everyone... Especially with electrics and its just far easier to take it all out and start again.
And some people just like to have a dig on the internetmost gas boiler repair companies expect the system to be installed correctly,thats why they send part changers

Thank you Dilalio. I’m stumped - as even Vaillant, the boiler manufacturer has confirmed that the installation is fine. I will post the full details of the fault when it’s found!To be fair. Every now and then along comes a problem that stymies everyone... Especially with electrics and its just far easier to take it all out and start again.
So many have given you the correct answer, it is not wired correctly
Judging by the correct terminology you've been using, it sounds like you're almost qualified to do so after all this

I think you mis understood the Vaillant engineer, what he said was the boiler is fine, he would not look at anything outside the boiler its not why he is there

Don't want to disturb this fascinating thread or send it off on another tangent. And I realise that this is nothing to do with the OP's problem, but is the boiler correctly installed without having pump overrun? I thought it was needed on modern boilers to protect main hex?
Am prepared to be corrected.

Yes - apologies i didn’t explain it properly. Vaillant engineer checked how the boiler has been wired up (wires inside the boiler near the pcb). You are correct - he did not check the wiring in the junction box/valves etc.
Exactly! Vaillant would have been called out, under warranty, on the basis that fault was suspected inside the boiler. This not being the case... they likely charged BG for the callout.

I just can’t wait for this nightmare to be solved...
Does a three wire installation mean that all power is removed from the boiler when the SL goes low? ie the wires are Earth, Neutral, and a switched live? If so, are you saying that the boiler manufacturer has approved this method?
So there is a pump overrun feed from the boiler, and it's not being used? And the boiler manufacturer is happy with this?
