My 9448 which has (up until now) been very reliable, however when I set the alarm to omit Zone 3 instead of the usual continuous 'buzzing' sound it sounded an intermittent 'buzzing' sound and the Zone 3 LED on the panel flashed, I opened up the panel to see if there were any loose connections all seemed OK. I have changed the Zone 3 IR Sensor but the fault is exactly the same plus the Anti-tamper light has now started coming on too. Any guidance as to what to do next? Regards.

.? Zone 3 will flash if your omitting 3 ? How can this be the fault when you are actually turning this zone off ?

Hi Sparkymarka, I thought, (wrongly) that the panel buzzes continuously NOT intermittently when Zone (3) is omitted, but from what you say isn't a fault as the panel DOES buzz intermittently when Zone omitted. Thanks for the help.
Hi The Pars, I have now checked when the battery was changed, 2009! I realise from other posts that 5 years is usually the maximum life-span of the system battery, I have ordered a new battery. I have also since my post checked the continuity of the IR sensor wiring and this is OK (continuous), changing the battery will (hopefully) eliminate the tamper fault. Thanks for the 'heads up'.

Regards, both.

Hi Sparkymarka, The Pars, or anyone else. Please see the above threads. I have now replaced the old battery with a new one but the Panel Tamper Light still comes on, I have a copy of the Installation and User Guide and assume the problem is the Anti-Tamper on the Bell Box, (I've operated the Panel Anti-Tamper switch and this 'seems' to be working correctly, alarming when switch spring is allowed to expand).
Looking at the wiring diagram I can't figure out which connections are the Bell Box Anti-Tamper Switch;
1) What are the Anti-Tamper switch connections?
2) Is there anyway I can bypass (short out or open circuit) the Bell Box Anti-Tamper Switch?
3) On the wiring diagram, what is the E/E contact?

Thanks in advance.

Check the control panel tamper spring first
Hold the lid spring in with your fingers and try to rest control panel panel,if clears then adjust spring by slightly pulling spring and ensure control panel lid is closed correctly.
If fault still present then could be global tamper or bell box.
You would need to isolate one by one.

Hi Handymanjo, thanks for replying so promptly.
When the panel is closed and the User Code is entered the Panel Tamper Light goes off but when Omitting Zone (3) the Panel Tamper Light comes on (solid) again.

Did you wire the "zone 3 detector correctly when you replaced it "?
E.g. Alarm and tamper wired the wrong way !

Hi Sparkymarka and Handymanjo.
Sparkymarka, the current fault is the same before I fitted the new IR Sensor, nevertheless I've checked the wiring and the new IR terminal layout and they are the same as the original IR Sensor.
Handymanjo, how do I carry out a Full Reset?

Regards.

Forget about omitting 3 ....what is showing on panel at moment .? If tamper light on , enter your code what happens ?

Turn off the system fuse out/battery off
Then fuse on battery on.
Reset system and see if the fault shows.

Hi Sparkymarka and The Pars.
Sparkymarka, once I have entered the User Code there are no alarm LED's on, the Tamper LED only comes on (solid) when I try to omit either Zone 2 or 3.
The Pars, thanks for the information, I'll try this.

Regards.

Ok enter your code so that it is clear ( no lights on panel ) and unset , now walk infront of zone 3 ... what happens ?
