Veritas Alarm issue

Veritas Alarm installed by ADT about 2002 (we moved in 2004) - not maintained.

Moved a sensor yesterday to strip wallpaper and refixed (zone 7).

Last night when I tried to set the alarm it wouldn't set and beeps are as follows:

"Part" pressed - Lights 1-6 on full, 7 flashing, 6 pairs of low volume beeps then reverts to "full set" sounds as described below.

"Full" pressed - Lights 1-7 lit, 6 beeps loud, repeating until I press reset.

All fuses look OK (not tried continuity), sensor I took off (zone 7) is now disconnected with the sensor circuit closed. If the sensor circuit to this wire is open circuit then behaviour is as above but on "part" light 7 is continuously lit.

Battery has been in a year or so but hasn't bulged yet and the beeps don't seem to fit the low voltage behaviour.

Anyone any ideas?

Well that's s answered that ....you have blown the 1amp aux supply fuse ...

Thanks - will look tomorrow when i am less likely to disturb the neighbours if the alarm goes off.

When I looked there were five fuses on the board - which is it?

All fuses are OK on a continuity tester . . . . . Five on the board and one just below it.

Was putting the lid back on and all hell let loose, panel would not reset from the keypad at all. Internal and external sounders going off - good job I didn't look at 9 this morning as I would not have been popular with the neighbours.

Currently power disconnected and sounder in external box disconnected. Not sure if that stopped the noise or the 20 minute timer did.

Considering a new panel as a closer look shows that the transformer is loose and the fixings to the case have disintegrated. Don't suppose a new case would be much cheaper than a new panel.

Did you remove the fuses to test ?

Yes, bell sounded when two of them were removed and stopped when they were replaced.

Check output with multimeter ....should be around 13.8v dc ...may be cheaper with a new panel if its getting on !

The transformer is no longer attached to the back panel, something else I will blame the installer for. Not quite as bad as how they wired it to the mains.

New panel ordered, should be fairly simple to fit and set up as all the wiring is already installed.
