After installing a new 'waterfall'' type tap onto bathroom basin, which stated on the box minimum pressure 0.2 bar, the water comes out of the tap with excessive pressure.

Instead of coming out at 180 degrees like a standard tap, this one shoots the water out at 90 degrees so when fully turning on the cold water, it splashes large amounts of water beyond the basin & onto the floor.

The hot water tap fully open is fine.

My question is; would it be OK to partially close the isolation valve to the cold water tap behind the sink and would this reduce the pressure to the outlet and prevent this splashing effect when the cold tap is fully open?

This is the tap installed;

I believe isolation valves are designed to be fully open or closed so anything in between might cause it to seize after a while, but it’s an option

Thanks Rob. I closed the valve a little bit and that was enough to stop the over spill and there was no additional noise yet.

Its a 'Mondella' tap made in China. They were selling for £120 on the Homebase website and came with a 5 year guarantee. I picked one up at a local Homebase 80% off in the closing down sale.

My mistake - expensive Chinese rubbish. ;)

Could have got a decent Bristan waterfall that would have worked properly for around 80 quid.

'5 year guarantee' :ROFLMAO:

Cheers, now I know where to go after 5-years time, once the Homebase guarantee expires and my £27 expensive Chinese rubbish tap fails
