Honeywell to Nest - Another Thread...

Please don't shout. I have read, searched etc but nobody appears to have the same Honeywell as me!

Currently got a wireless Honeywell now, so took a look at the box on the wall (coming from boiler) and only seems to have a couple of cables, yet the nest seems to have a fair few sockets and appears it may well need additional wires. So I was here for advice, if it's simple from the current state I will do it, If not I will just get a nest pro engineer (or should any sort of spark/plumber be able to do it?)

I have attached pictures of the current Honeywell and then the nest. Is there some simple guide of what to what if it's possible? Apologies but my dyslexa means I will need it pretty simple to understand, once understood get as techie as you like!

Thanks in advance for the read, hopefully don't get too much crap for another post as I am sure you guys get sick of them! Not sure if it makes any difference but want to keep the nest on a stand not wall mounted, which I am thinking maybe hence the less wires! Again maybe (probably totally wrong!)

The diagrams you have posted give you the answer by showing their connections Electrically speaking, apart from a N & L 230V supply to power them, the BDR and the Nest are both simple electrical switches, they switch the heating on and off; that's all they do. You are swapping one switch for another.






As you don't make mention any stored hot water (ie a hot water cylinder) that also requires time control from the Nest, I assume that you are fitting the Nest to a combi boiler. If so, the wiring is.

BDR (N) Blue wire= Neutral = Nest (N)
BDR (L) Brown wire = Live = Nest (L)
BDR (A) Grey wire = Common = Nest (2) Heating common
BDR (B) Black wire = On = Nest (3) Heating call for heat

Hi, I literally just found a thread that has everything I had I think and I was about to link it! But it also shows the wiring same as you show! So actually seems quite "simple" I will get it all labelled up and give it a bash I think! Really appreciate that!

We just have a standard combi boiler, and a thermostat which we can chose the degrees on but seems to basically just turn it on and off. All I want the nest for it turning heating on and off, water is just on demand I presume! Boiler picture attached but think this wont make much off a difference to the wiring!

Again really appreciate it, think I need to up my search skills sooner!! Less specific and mroe general and then dig down deep!

Just wanted to say a huge thanks! Couldn't of been easier! Went and picked up a Nest stand and had it all set-up and running within half an hour!

I see you have a timer on your boiler, this must be set to constantly on , otherwise it will override the nest

Yup boiler has always been constantly on! Never bothered with the timer!
