I've just bought a house which had a separate bathroom and toilet. I've knocked it through to make 1 larger space.
All the old plaster has been taken off down to the brickwork.
My intention is to batton out the whole room and board over and then tile.
I like the idea of this method to conceal pipework etc.
I'm wondering what sort of board to use. 2 types I'm aware of are aqua board and Hardi backer. Can these just be screwed to the batton? Do I need to use some kind of tape or sealent where the edges oo the board meet?

Any advice for this would be really helpful!

Look at no more ply as well as the aqua panel. Both need to be mechanically fixed and both manufacturers recommend taping the joints and sealing them, of course using their special tape and sealer

Cheers for the replys.

I've battened the room out. I've done it to 400 centres where the Hardibacker is going (shower and bath) and 450 elsewhere.

Do I need to add a vapour barrier behind the plasterboard? What about insulation? Was thinking thin kingspan or similar...

Cheers
