Seriously, General Discussion is a bit of a cesspit.
If you want to stick to fora where you have expertise then that will be fine, and you will be welcome.
If you choose to engage in the General Discussion forum then you will be as welcome there as anybody else, i.e. a "full and frank" exposition of your views and your opposition to views with which you do not agree.
If you want to join in here then your best bet is a thick skin and a firm belief in your own opinions and standards. Personally I would say that here you give as good, or better, than you get, and you don't go whingeing to the Mods. If that's not for you then confine yourself to the specialist fora where you have expertise.
