Hi,

Looking to have a gas hob on one of these.

http://www.sheridan-uk.com/worktops/apollo-magna-worktops/

They are 600MM worktops and I would like to have the Upstands that are 20mm deep.

Just reading the blurb on install;

It says I need;

Hobs must be integrated into an Apollo® Magna worksurface according to specified guidelines. Where an Apollo® Magna splash back or wall cladding is installed a gap of 50mm (minimum) is required behind an electric hob or 100mm (minimum) for a gas hob. A ‘breakfront’ may be necessary to accommodate this requirement. There must be a minimum of 50mm from the cutout to the front of the worktop and a gap of 120mm between heated cutouts.

With a hob at 52CM https://ao.com/product/pbp6b5b80-bosch-serie-2-gas-hob-stainless-steel-36631-41.aspx

Do you think they mean 150MM to the gas burner OR the absolute edge of the hob?

The dimensions will be to the edge of the hob.

Rear gap between edge of hob and vertical surface = 100 mm for gas & 50 mm for electric

Not sure why you have stated 150 mm

as per the other thread you need to take the most stringent of the hob and worktop instructions. The hob will likely give a dimension to combustible materials behind. if you phone the worktop maker you can resolve the discrepancy between the 100 and 150 but in my opinion this material is not really fit for purpose as a backsplash/upstand when there are so many other materials available.
People on here can tell you it will be fine but the manufacturer isn't going to entertain a warranty claim for a discoloured or melted back panel if the clearance isn't there.

John, yes get this thanks.

I will need to have a gap in the upstand and put a glass splash back there.....for some reason I'd envisaged having upstand along the back of the hob.

All answered myself now :)

if noone else comes along with further advice, it's probably still worth making that call to the manufacturer as they may have some suggestions

Thanks John.

I've seen a few images online of the same worktops with gas burners and they have done the gap in Upstand with a gas burner.
