I am having a bathtub and shower re-installed. Have normally used
  • Unibond Shower Bathroom and Kitchen Anti-Mould Sealant Triple Protection or
  • UniBond Anti Mould Sealant Kitchen and Bathroom
Is it worth spending the extra money or would something like be just as good.
  • Dow Corning DC785 Sanitary Sealant 310ml White
Are there any other brands people can reccomend?

Thank you

Dow Corning 785 N - that's the one that is mould resistant, and most important - it's neutral curing so will stick to plastic. Any silicone that has the vinegar smell is acetic acid base and will not stick to plastic, though they will seal ceramics. You might find that a lot of places don't stock 785N but it's worth finding it;)

Thanks, just a followup question on screwfix website it says Dow Corning 785 N white is water resistents / but the Unibond is waterproof .. Is that actually true?, or is it marketing talk and they are basically the same

For the intended purpose of sealing joints in a bathroom, they are both waterproof.

Probably not suitable for joints permanently under water such as an aquarium.
