Hi All
I have a nissan serena petrol 1994 with a 2.0 SR20DE litre engine.
I have been using Castrol GTX 15W40 oil with no issues for the last four years.

However when I searched online for the correct recommended oil for the engine it shows 5W 30
I would like any thoughts please as I want to use the correct lubricant.

Any advice would be truly appreciated.

5W-30 is more or less the universal lube for engines these days - manufacturer's tolerances are much closer than they ever were.
Turbocharging means that a thin lube gets to where it is needed as fast as possible.
Your Nissan is hardly in its first flush of youth and I'd imagine the mileage is quite high? In which case the thin oil may cause it to be burnt.
The Castrol brew is a first class oil and personally I'd stick with it - often frequent changes together with the filter are all that's needed.

Id probably change to a 10/40 which is more readily available and offers slightly better cold start protection.
In reality though it wont matter that much.
