Ethernat Cabling

@Lamchamps, my reply was aimed at the situation where installing extra CAT5e/Cat6 cabling was difficult or impossible without great upheaval; essentially a work-around. Do you really get 350Mbps? If so, are you on a special package from your provider? The value of 50-80 megabits per second (yes, I do know the difference between bits and bytes - with a nibble in between) I quoted was the UK average for FTTC for both BT etc and Cable (VM) connections. Don't forget that many offices, both large and small, still rely on CAT5e backbones and the workstations function perfectly well at 100Mbps (although the servers may use gigabit network connectivity)

I get 350-360Mpbs consistently as do many of my friends and family also on Virgins top package. I didn’t get your reply about 50-80Mpbs being the top domestic package when Virgins sold packages are 50-350Mpbs.

Cat5e is 1000Mpbs Cat5 is 100Mpbs.
