Hikvision camera's

Hi all I'm looking to fit 3x hikvision cameras on my home.

My question is that I was looking to get 8mp cameras so I can get the best possible images but they don't seem to come in darkfighter series?

From what I've seen (I may be wrong!) The hikvision darkfighter series only seems to go up to 5mp so what am I better off getting? The 5mp darkfighter or the 8mp normal cameras?

Or am I just better off getting 8mp cameras and fitting security lights?

I am assuming you want 8mp because it sounds better than 5mp? What NVR do you intend on getting if that is not capable of 24mp total it is a bit of a waste getting the cameras you are saying.

Just looking at a couple of NVRs you are looking around 12mp for a 4 port.

Now I am not a cctv expert and someone can clear up what I am saying but it seems a total waste unless you get a NVR to match.

NVR’s support various resolutions, so need to know max resolution.

The dark fighters are supposed to help with low light and the resolution isn’t as high. To get full colour in low light.

However you can use hik in low conditions to similar effect, by tweaking the settings, you must be aware that in this scenario you will need to make sure that it’s optimised so that no light or close to switches on the IR.

You should specify cameras fit for purpose, an 8MP on wide angle lens will give a lower pixel density than a narrow field lens but that may not cover the area you want.

Also guys do you know of any genuine retailers to buy the equipment from? I'm wary of using sites like eBay and Amazon as I don't want to end up with fakes.

Personally I wouldn't bother with 8MP...the nightvision is not so clever, we have gone back to HIK 5MP which seems a good balance. Also 8MP cams will fill HDD a lot lot quicker.
Also if your only fitting 3 cams go with the new HIK Power over coax......Its great for small installs , have used this 4 times already this year. Below are the cams and DVR we use......Plus also motorized zoom cams cost the same money as fixed lens POE cams!!

I normally do HIK IP, but to compete with the competition I will be trying out some POC next week before offering it to my customers.
