Can somebody help me out please?,

I have a two year old Worcester 32CDI combi boiler that was connected to a Hive thermostat that could only control the central heating. I’m trying to install my new Tado thermostat (the extension kit) but i can’t get the heating to turn on.

The attached is the wiring from my Hive receiver, can somebody advise where each wire should go on the Tado kit.

Thanks

Looking at your picture it would appear your setup is using volt free contacts, pg 12 of the Hive manual for your original thermostat supports this supposition.

In which case referring to Pg 11 of the Tado manual (http://www.free-instruction-manuals.com/pdf/pa_1184115.pdf), your wiring should follow the diagram for "potential free" and ensure the jumper position is set accordingly. This appears to be the correct manual for the extension kit you referred to but obviously confirm.

Isolate and prove dead at the boiler backplate first of course, at which point wire as follows:

  • Blue pairs to terminal N of the Tado backplate (first terminal from the left)
  • Brown pairs to terminal L of the Tado backplate (second terminal from the left)
  • Black conductor to terminal 1 (COM) of the Tado backplate (third terminal from the left)
  • Grey conductor to terminal 4 (NO) of the Tado backplate (sixth terminal from the left)
Hope that helps.
