perhaps you could tell me which wires go where i ha 3 wires red blue and yellow blue goes to on the present thermostat blue goes to 4 red to 1 and yellow to 2 on the replacement i have live and neutral com and no

depends what you are going to replace the one you have with and post a pic of your existing wiring, the colours mean nothing, it is more common to put the wireless receiver next to the boiler rather than in place of the room thermostat, but have seen it done that way and yours could be, where do you plan to put your wireless thermostat ?

No they dont it is a hard wired simple on off thermostat

the way a wireless thermostat works is exactly as it says, there are no wires in the thermostat, the thermostat sends an RF signal to the receiver, the receiver is connected to the boiler and switches the boiler on and off, what exactly are you trying to achieve ? are you looking to control your heating via your smart phone ?

well the receiver can be installed in place of the existing room thermostat and you can take the wireless thermostat upstairs, there are lots available, some programmable , some just simple thermostats

There are three versions of the rmt230 some have compensation to both reduce hysteresis and to measure outside temperature, some versions need a neutral others don't, and to fit a wireless thermostat you will likely need a neutral.

However there are also different reasons for the thermostat, non modulating boilers use off/on thermostats to control the room temperature, but modulating boilers the thermostat is to stop cycling as the summer approaches. The room temperature is controlled by the thermostatic radiator valve (TRV) if that is the case in your house then it is the TRV head which you need to be wifi not the wall thermostat.

The TRV comes as standard with a wax head marked *123456 and it rather approximate as to temperature, however there are a load of replacement heads starting with the Terrier i30 which is not wifi but is programmable, and then a whole load I use Energenie which are wifi and can be set from your phone.

The best is where all the TRV heads connect to a central hub which in turn tells the boiler what output is required, EvoHome is a non modulating version, I think you can get a modulating kit as an add on. There is also Tado sorry not a clue how that one works.

The energenie I have works with Nest 3, which is modulating using opentherm, however it uses a follow command, so as standard all rooms same temperature, every system has pros and cons, many of the cons are price, the Myson iVector radiator has it all built in and is likely the best system, however likely the price will put you off.
