Hello guys,

Just paid to have an Orisec alarm installed in my house. 5 wired PIR's, 2 wireless, 2 door contacts, control panel with wired controller and wireless controller.

Came home and HKC kit has been installed. HKC 1070 panel.

Anybody advise on diff between the two please?

Thanks

I’ve never come across HKC equipment before but I understand they have been around for some time. Orisec however is a very new company but they have a great panel and it’s been designed by people who have previously developed some of the best alarm panels on the market, past and present.

So i’d have to say the Orisec system would have been better.

I havent paid yet so will be an interesting discussion tomorrow.

The HKC control panel looks cheaper than i was expecting. However thats the extent of my knowledge on alarms....

I tested out a Orisec CP25 with touch screen keypad recently and was very impressed with it all. So I would try and get it swapped out if I was you.

Good luck.

excuse the stupid question: but i should push for all sensors and pir's also, as in is it reasonable to assume they would be better also?

Wireless sensors have to be the same make as the panel as they only work on like for like systems. Hardwired sensors can be wired into any system and are usually good enough from any manufacturer.

I'm being informed that I have been upgraded....

With no sightlines for Orisec (only supply to installers) and a few prices for HKC but little experience, apart from the keypad looking cheaper I don't have much to fall back on.

Anyone with direct knowledge of HKC please?

Orisec, not been around long enough to be accepted by all of the major alarm companies yet.

HKC, I would go for something that has been proven.

If your not happy don't pay ...they have not installed what you have paid for or been quoted on

Jumping on this post a few years late, but HKC are more expensive. Better is a matter of opinion, I've installed both systems and find HKC to be extremely fool proof and reliable. Orisec has a better design to it.
The HKC alarm is a true hybrid alarm and worth much more than the cheaper Orisec. I hope you stuck with the HKC system!

Orisec maybe a new brand, but the experience behind is pretty good.

However I will say this, given I have a test panel from very early days pre launch, the panel was quick and very responsive with touch screen keypad available,

Consider that I now do not have access to the engineers portal as an engineer, you may or may not be able to get support from any engineer out there. The menus are similar to Texecom in some respects and navigation isn’t so hard.

The reason why there sales and tech manager did not approve access was I wasn’t buying any of their kit, so he says, so my concern on this basis alone is if anyone stops buying there kit they may refuse access to their portal or tech support. Whilst I can’t say for certain that it is company policy, the individual responsible and I have history which may be a factor.

The Orisec panel is pretty good despite my issues with Orisec.

I had an Orisec installed last week. Panel is W-CP-40K. Not happy. External siren is pathetic. Wouldn't scare a mouse.
Remote fob won't disarm the system from the drive, so I think I've switched it off, open the garage, then the garage PIR sets off the alarm. Every time.
Paul at Orisec can't suggest a solution. Guess it's just the 30m range that the remote can't cover through three walls.
Having said that, the garage PIR is 35m away and gets through 4 walls.
Anyway... looks like it will be getting ripped out and my money back (Paid by Cr.Card and 14 days distance selling rules apply).
Looking at Pyronix now but my sparky has other suggestions for when he's here Monday.

If you've had problems with signal strength I would go for the Texecom with texecom ricochet.

The Pyronix stuff is good just needs designing properly. I have a detector in my van and it can be parked 50m down the road sometimes but never had a problem with a signal and arming the alarm.
