Been looking to get another grinder for light diy as my old B+D burnt the switch out and have been looking at a Bosch 115mm one at bq but it says the disc bore is 21m, whereas most seem to be 22/22.2 so would this tie me to buying Bosch discs rather than generic ones.

That's a new one on me. Always thought they were 22.2mm (5/8in-11 UNC?)
Just had a quick look - we have two Bosch 4-1/2in grinders, a Makita one and my Makita cordless one here. They're all 5/8in-11 UNC or 22.23mm. Which model is it?

Sounds like a cockup to me. Grinder arbors are a universal standard 22.2mm or 7/8".
Aside from that my advice would be to spend a bit more and get the GWS equivalent - Bosch blue. Cracking grinders.

On a lot of 115mm grinders you can just squeeze a 125mm disc in.
If you will ever need a 9" grinder hitachi do a twin pack of a 4 1/2" and a 9" for about £90, they're good grinders

Tool-free disc changing, apparently. Take a look at this video (American) or if you'd prefer a far more detailed German one (overdubbed in English) then see here. AFAIK due in the UK later this year

Must say that is neat but will other manufacturers follow suit hoping that Bosch screw up through lack of sales, perhaps if they do i can get cheap 22mm discs cheap as they are offloaded but then again it won't happen overnight.

Seen a lot of this. Can't see it taking off. They already tried something similar some years back and no one was interest.
For your casual DIYer it would lock you into buying expensive Bosch abrasives and most professionals have multiple grinders set up anyway. I myself carry two cordless grinders with me on any average day aside from having three 9" to choose from depending on what I'm doing.
Certainly won't revolutionise the grinder like Starlock did for OMTs but even then, I believe there's still only bosch, Fein, Metabo and recently Festool who have implemented it.
My advice to anyone would be to replace standard Arbor nuts with a Bosch SDS Clic Arbor nut. Completely tool free and I find I can change a disc just as quickly with one of these as the X lock system would allow.
