Hotpoint dishwasher sticking mid-cycle

Aquarius dw22
It has
1 prewash
2 super wash
3 normal wash
4 light wash
5 freshen up

If you start it at 2 or 3, it gets part way ok then seems to stick, at 4. If you nudge the knob it carries on.
It seems to be filling, heating and emptying normally.

New timer needed?

Clean the black hose under the mc. It goes from sump to matrix.

It's pumping out at full flow though, wouldn't that have been affected?

No ,it's the pipe and poss matrix blocked with crud

9 years later and it's still true. The hose in question is about an inch diameter, not the thinner one. It helps to take the drain hose off to access the clip on the black hose. Expect a drain hose full of water to spill.
Looking at the machine, tip it over to the right, to access.
