During the daytime period, the 470F shows the actual temperature and below it the 'desired temperature'. During the 'set back' night temperature, it only shows the actual room temperature. Is this normal?

Just checked ours. In setback mode the desired temperature is shown along with actual temperature.

Have you got the thermostat (in the installer level settings) set for "set back" or "eco" ?

Thanks, I will have to try to find that setting, to see what happens if I change it. As has been said before, the manual is useless - I have working on a process of suck and see.

I have changed it to Night Mode, to see what it does.

The manual says..
Three modes are possible:

– ECO (factory setting): the heating function is switched off and the controller monitors the outside
temperature.
If the outside temperature falls below 3 °C, the controller switches the heating function on after the end
of the frost protection delay time and brings the room temperature to the set desired "Night" temperature.
Even though the heating function is on, the burner is only active as required.
If the outside temperature rises above 4 °C, the controller switches the heating function off, but continues
to monitor the outside temperature.

– Frost protection: the heating function is switched off and the frost protection function is active.

– Night temperature: the heating function is on and the controller controls the room temperature according
to the set "Night" temperature.

When installing your controller, the heating engineer can
specify the control functions for the times outside the periods and the heating curve.
> Discuss with the heating engineer which settings are optimum for you.
