Hi

I was cleaning out my gutters yesterday and I did all of the ones I can reach. But there's some I can't because of a one storey extension. I'll also be looking to paint at some point too. What can I use to get there?

Some photos below. Would much appreciate any advice

Many thanks

Scaffolding or cherry picker.

You might manage with one of these but I don't like them, and I very much doubt if they'll reach.
You could get the height but not the reach.

I have used them but I clamp a piece of 3X2 along the bottom for additional stability.

Those A-frame extensible ladders are downright unstable indoors but outdoors? I wouldn't even consider it unless I was on nice level concrete. Having used them quite a bit I know that they simply won't extend far enough over the top of the OP's lean-to extension.

Even the top, will not extend you nearer than the rear of the base, so even risk it at the top of the ladder, you would have an impossible distance to reach.

There must be space to get a good strong extension ladder in, even if it has to be at 45deg or whatever, so long as the base is really well secured, it would be safe enough.

I have done that in the past, but using a very heavy rigid ladder and well lashed down at the base.

For gutters use a pole with a piece of ply shaped to gutter profile, remove gutter end cap and then rake the gutter into bucket held under the end. Depending on distance either a length of baton or drain rods will do,
You look to be able to access both ends of gutter ?

I was going to suggest just that. Or at least rake the spots OP can't reach along to a point where OP can.

I read somewhere about a remote control device, which you drop in the gutter at one end and 'drive' it along the gutter, pushing along the dirt as it goes.

Could you put your ladder up as per here?

Feed a hosepipe into the end of the gutter, turn the water on full, then gradually push the pipe along the gutter until it has got to the other end.

Shoite will spray and overflow everywhere, and you will get wet, but it will clear (most of) the crud out.

I did it that way - to get the hosepipe to stay in the gutter as you push it along, it will need something like a length of 15mm copper pipe fixed on the end.

You might also need a ladder stand-off, able to work on wall corners. Tesco were selling these about three years ago, for £20 - they just hook onto the top of a ladder, to allow the ladder to be stood off the wall or stood off a corner.

I have a similar problem, go to the end you can safely and securly position your ladder, get some drain rods and gaffa tape the nozzle end and hose to an entire lenght of rod. Place in guttering feed and screw in more rods and hose as required.
